Sea Loons Galley

My Galley aboard M.V. Sea Loons

Galley definition: A kitchen or an area with kitchen facilities in a ship, plane, or camper.

Most boats have the traditional kitchen appliances on board such as fridge, stove top, microwave or oven. Most, but not all. Our last boat Paco2 had none of that, it came with a small sink, a cooler and an alcohol stove, we added a BBQ and that was it. Aboard Sea Loons, our galley is better equipped.  We have a fridge! (It is still the original one and works fine.) The alcohol stove that came with the boat was changed by the previous owners for a single removable inductions stove top burner. They also had a microwave, however, we hardly use the one we have at home, so we gave it away and a toaster is now in its spot. All our cooking appliances are portable, which means that we can use them outside in the cockpit, a picnic table or elsewhere. That helped keep out the humidity and heat usually associated with cooking in the cabin.

Cooking Appliances

To make sure we can prepare a wide variety of meals, we found room to store and brought the following small appliances.
  • Instant Pot
  • Induction Stove top
  • Toaster Oven
  • BBQ
  • Ice maker

Cooking accessories & tools

We had the usual kitchen gadgets, but I tried to find items that multi task, are small (space saving) and do not require power.  Some of my "go to" food prep items are:
  • Danish whisk
  • Stainless steel bowls
  • T-fal ingenio pots
  • Silicone pan liner
  • etc.
